Our Junior Church meets on Sunday, during morning worship, to learn, play and spend time together exploring the stories of Jesus and God’s spectacular creation.
We welcome families to Bethesda and new children into our Junior Church. It is a lively group of toddlers (including a crèche), children and young people who divide into a number of groups lead by a dedicated and caring team of Junior Church staff. This team focus is on bringing Jesus to life in the world that the children are learning to investigate, very much listening to what they have to say and incorporating their ideas into future plans. Together they share our joy at being part of God’s kingdom.
The group takes many approaches to bringing this teaching and learning to life – story telling, arts and crafts, collaging, games, songs, video and film. In addition to being part of the worship every week, Junior Church draws in the wider congregation through services (eg Junior Church Anniversary and Nativity) and the posting of banners, collage and art work in both the sanctuary and around the church buildings.
The staff encourage the children to find ‘their church’ here at Bethesda and help them become fully integrated into the life of the church. The wider family at Bethesda is very supportive of Junior Church and both creates a safe environment for the children to learn and encourages their involvement in worship and church life. Preparing for our Nativity service is a very special time for us all.
The Junior Church team have been involved in the planning of 2016 re-development at Bethesda. The goal is to develop new facilities as part of our familiar and welcoming church home, which will be inviting to all. This will re-enforce the relationship that children and young people have with Bethesda and the church family. We are excited about the impact of the re-development on our whole Junior Church.
